No doubt this has spike because of Covid-19. But with more people staying at home, coupled with the widespread use of voice activate services like Alexa, and Google Dot, people are turning to podcasts for both entertainment and education.

Monthly listenership is also broken down by demographics, as shown below, and all saw significant increases. Especially, it must be said, in the age range of 12-24, which grew by a whopping 7%.
Young professionals are a major target audience for the podcast industry, and anecdotally, the past two years have produced a lot more podcasts aimed at families with children, so this large percentage increase is not a surprise.
Does not matter what business you’re in, podcasting is here to stay and you should get involved.
